LiFi : THE FUTURE OF DATA TRANSMISSION Li-Fi

LiFi : THE FUTURE OF DATA TRANSMISSION

Li-Fi

LiFi works in complement with existing and emerging wireless systems.Light Fidelity(Li-Fi) is abidirectional, high-speed and fully networkedwireless communicationtechnology similar toWi-Fi.

The term was coined byHarald Haas[1]and is a form ofvisible light communicationand a subset ofoptical wireless communications(OWC) and could be a complement toRF communication(Wi-Fi orcellular networks), or even a replacement in contexts ofdata broadcasting.

It is wire and uv visible-light communication orinfraredandnear-ultravioletinstead ofradio-frequencyspectrum, part of optical wireless communications technology, which carries much more information and has been proposed as a solution to theRF-bandwidth limitations.
[2]Technology detailsThis OWC technology uses light fromlight-emitting diodes(LEDs) as a medium to deliver networked, mobile, high-speed communication in a similar manner toWi-Fi

.[3]The Li-Fi market is projected to have acompound annual growth rateof 82% from 2013 to 2018 and to be worth over $6 billion per year by 2018
.[4]Visible light communications(VLC) works by switching the current to the LEDs off and on at a very high rate,
[5]too quick to be noticed by the human eye. Although Li-Fi LEDs would have to be kept on to transmit data, they could be dimmed to below human visibility while still emitting enough light to carry data.
[6]The light waves cannot penetrate walls which makes a much shorter range, though moresecure from hacking, relative to Wi-Fi.[7]
[8]Direct line of sight is not necessary for Li-Fi to transmit a signal; light reflected off the walls can achieve 70Mbit/s.

[10]Li-Fi has the advantage of being useful in electromagnetic sensitive areas such as inaircraft cabins, hospitals and nuclear power plants without causingelectromagnetic interference.[7][11]

[8]BothWi-Fi and Li-Fi transmit data over theelectromagnetic spectrum, but whereas Wi-Fi utilizes radio waves, Li-Fi uses visiblelight. While the US Federal Communications Commission has warned of a potential spectrum crisis because Wi-Fi is close to full capacity, Li-Fi has almost no limitations on capacity

.[12]The visible light spectrum is 10,000 times larger than the entireradio frequencyspectrum.[13]Researchers have reached data rates of over224 Gbit/s, which is much faster than typical fastbroadbandin2013.[14][15]Li-Fi is expected to be ten times cheaper than Wi-Fi.[6]Short range, low reliability and high installation costs are the potential downsides.[4]

[5]PureLiFidemonstrated the first commercially available Li-Fi system, the Li-1st, at the 2014Mobile World Congressin Barcelona.[16]Bg-Fi is a Li-Fi system consisting of an application for a mobile device, and a simple consumer product, like an IoT (Internet of Things) device, with color sensor, microcontroller, and embedded software. Light from the mobile device display communicates to the color sensor on the consumer product, which converts the light into digital information. Light emitting diodes enable the consumer product to communicate synchronously with the mobile device.[17]

[18]HistoryHarald Haas, coined the term "Li-Fi" at his TED Global Talk where he introduced the idea of "Wireless data from every light".

[19]He is Chairman of Mobile Communicationsat theUniversity of Edinburghand co-founder of pureLiFi.[20]The general termvisible light communication(VLC), whose history datesback to the 1880s, includes any use of the visible light portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to transmit information. The D-Light project at Edinburgh's Institute for Digital Communications was funded from January 2010 to January 2012.

[21]Haas promoted this technology in his 2011TED Globaltalk and helped start a company to market it.[22]PureLiFi, formerly pureVLC, isanoriginal equipment manufacturer(OEM)firm set up to commercialize Li-Fi productsfor integration with existingLED-lighting systems.[23]

[24]In October 2011, companies and industry groups formed theLi-Fi Consortium, to promote high-speed optical wireless systems and to overcome the limited amount of radio-based wireless spectrum available by exploiting a completely different part of the electromagnetic spectrum.[25]A number of companies offer uni-directional VLC products, which is not the same as Li-Fi - a term defined by the IEEE 802.15.7r1 standardization committee

.[26]VLC technology was exhibited in 2012 using Li-Fi.[27]By August 2013, data rates of over 1.6 Gbit/s were demonstrated over a single color LED.[28]In September 2013, a press release said that Li-Fi, or VLC systems in general, do not require line-of-sight conditions.[29]In October 2013, it was reported Chinese manufacturers were working on Li-Fi development kits.

[30]In April 2014, the Russian company Stins Coman announced the development of a Li-Fi wireless local network called BeamCaster. Their current module transfers data at 1.25 gigabytes per second but they foresee boosting speeds up to 5 GB/second in the near future.[31]In2014 a new record was established by Sisoft (a Mexican company) that was able to transfer data at speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s across a light spectrum emitted by LED lamps.

[32]Recent integratedCMOSoptical receivers for Li-Fi systems are implemented withavalanche photodiodes(APDs) which has a low sensitivity.[33]In July 2015,IEEEhasoperated the APD inGeiger-modeas asingle photon avalanche diode(SPAD) to increase the efficiency of energy-usage and makes the receiver more sensitive.[34]Also this operation could be performed asquantum-limitedsensitivity that makes receivers detect weak signals from far distance.

[33]StandardsLike Wi-Fi, Li-Fi is wireless and usessimilar802.11 protocols; but it usesvisible light communication(instead of radio frequency waves), which has much widerbandwidth. One part of VLC is modeled after communication protocols established by theIEEE802 workgroup. However, theIEEE802.15.7standard is out-of-date, it fails to consider the latest technological developments in the field of optical wireless communications, specifically withthe introduction of opticalorthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(O-OFDM) modulation methods which have been optimized for data rates, multiple-access and energy efficiency.

[35]The introductionof O-OFDM means that a new drive for standardization of optical wireless communications is required.Nonetheless, the IEEE 802.15.7 standard defines thephysical layer(PHY) andmediaaccess control(MAC) layer. The standard is able to deliver enough data rates to transmit audio, video and multimedia services. It takes into account optical transmission mobility, its compatibility with artificial lighting present in infrastructures, and the interference whichmay be generated by ambient lighting.

TheMAC layer permits using the link with the other layers as with theTCP/IPprotocol.[citation needed]

The standard defines three PHY layers with different rates:*.The PHY 1 was established for outdoor application and works from 11.67 kbit/s to 267.6 kbit/s.*.The PHY 2 layer permits reaching data rates from 1.25 Mbit/s to 96 Mbit/s.*.The PHY 3 is used for many emissions sources with a particular modulation method called color shift keying (CSK). PHY III can deliver rates from 12 Mbit/s to 96 Mbit/s.[36]The modulation formats recognized for PHY I and PHY II areon-off keying(OOK) and variablepulse position modulation(VPPM). TheManchester codingused for the PHY I and PHY II layers includes the clock inside the transmitted data by representing a logic 0 with an OOK symbol"01" and a logic 1 with an OOK symbol "10",all with a DC component. The DC component avoids light extinction in case of an extended run of logic 0's.[citation needed]The first VLCsmartphoneprototype was presented at theConsumer Electronics Showin Las Vegas from January 7–10 in 2014. The phone uses SunPartner's Wysips CONNECT, a technique that converts light waves into usable energy, making the phone capable of receiving and decoding signals without drawing on its battery.[37][38]A clear thin layer of crystal glass can be added to small screens like watches and smartphones that make them solar powered. Smartphones could gain 15% more battery life during a typical day. This first smartphones using this technology should arrive in 2015. This screen can alsoreceive VLC signals as well as the smartphone camera.[39]The cost of these screens per smartphone is between $2 and $3, much cheaper than most new technology.[40]Philipslighting company has developed a VLC system for shoppers at stores. They have to download an app on their smartphone and then their smartphone works with the LEDs in the store. The LEDscan pinpoint where they are located in the store and give them corresponding coupons and information based on which aisle they are on and what they are lookingat.[41]Home & Building AutomationIt is predicted that future home & building automation[42]will be highly dependent on the Li-Fi technology for being secure & fast. As the light cannot penetrate throughwalls hence the signal cannot be hacked from a remote location.ApplicationsSecurityIn contrast toradio frequency wavesused by Wi-Fi, lights cannot penetrate through walls and doors. In a meeting or living room condition, with some prevention ontransparent materials, like curtains on window, the access of a Li-Fi channel is constrained in that room.[43]Underwater ApplicationMostremotely underwater operated vehicles(ROVs) use cables to transmit command, but the length of cables then limits the area ROVs can detect. However, aslight wavecould travel through water, Li-Fi could be implemented on vehicles to receive and send back signals.[44]HospitalMany treatments now involve multiple individuals, Li-Fi system could be a better system to transmit communication about the information of patients.[45]Besides providing a higher speed, light waves also have little effect onmedical instrumentsand human bodies.[46]VehiclesVehiclescould communicate with one another via front and back lights to increase road safety. Also street lamps and traffic signals could also provide information about current road situations.[47]See also*.Bluetooth*.Free-space optical communication*.Infrared communication*.IrDA*.Near Field Communication(NFC)*.Spatial light modulator(SLM)*.Super Wi-FiReferences1.^Harald Haas."Harald Haas: Wireless data from every light bulb".ted.com.2.^Tsonev, Dobroslav; Videv, Stefan; Haas,Harald (December 18, 2013). HOW TO BROWSE FOR FREE USING A SATELLITE TV DECODER

HOW TO SETUP SATELLITE INTERNET CONNECTION USING YOUR DECODER AND BROWSE AT INCREDIBLE SPEEDS

decoder browsing
This step by step guide will give you detailed guideline on how to get free satellite internet connection using a decoder either HITV, DSTV, MYTV etc. If you can’t follow these steps successfully then get someone with knowledge of networking to help you out. You must take note that all relevant equipments for this setup must be available before doing the configuration.

Introduction
Communication between computers is a major part of the PC computing Industry. Thanks to the World Wide Web (www), no computer user is an Island. Whether using a dialup modem or broad band technology, virtually all PCs can be connected to other computers, enabling them to share files, send and receiving email, and access the Internet.
With the explosive growth of the internet, modem and network technologies were joined because both could use the same client software and protocols. Today, the most popular suite of networking protocols –TCP/IP – is used on both Local Area Network (LANs) and the internet. When you dial into an Internet Service Protocol (ISP), you are actually connecting to a network using a modem instead of a network interface card, and when you use most broadband services, your path to the internet typically starts with a network interface card, built in network card, built in network port, network – to – USB adapter, or even a wireless connection.
Thanks to the combination of huge multi megabyte downloads needed to update software and support hardware, dynamics websites with music and full – motion videos and increased demand for online services, even the fastest dial up modem (such as mtn, fastlink, starcomms, visafones etc) which can download at just 53kbps, isn’t sufficient for heavy internet use. More and More users are taking advantage of various types of broadband internet access solution. But the most preferred to me is the cable decoder internet access system.
For many users, cable modem service which piggybacks on the same cable TV service line that brings your TV many channels, represent both a big boost in speed from the available with ISDN and a major savings in initial cost and monthly charges which your subscription fee covers.
Cable Modem Services normally is sold as an “all you can eat” unlimited access plan with a modest installation cost (materials to buy to commence installation). Because more and more cable networks (such as DSTV, HITV, CTL and the most recent DAAR SAT) support a single standard, you can choose any of the decoders of all this cable TV providers to connect your system to the internet.
Connection Requirements and Overview
To set up the Decoder internet access You need the following:
  1. SPLITTER
  2. LINKSYS CABLE MODEM
  3. RJ – 45 NIC Cable
  4. Ethernet Cable
  5. Router(WIRELESS OR WIRED if you intend to use more than one pc)
  6. DECODER(mytv, hitv, dstv, daarsat etc)
  7. Coaxial to RJ-45 converter or adapter
  8. COAXIAL CABLES
Overview of the Requirements
  • SPLITTER:  There are many types of Satellite Decoder Splitter that you can buy. What do we use the Splitter for? This enables you to create a parallel connection for thecoaxial cable (this is the cable that is used to connect your decoder to the TV and as well as the decoder to the Dish hanged outside). The splitter will share the signal that comes from the dish outside between the TV and the Router cable modem, which will convert the signal to an internet signal.
  •  LINKSYS CABLE MODEM: This is a Cable Modem: A cable modem is a device that delivers high-speed Internet connectivity via a cable television company which serves as the Internet service provider (ISP). A cable modem requires a subscription to cable Internet service, and will not function by simply connecting it to a cable TV (CATV) feed. Externally, a cable modem resembles a DSL modem. The coaxial cable that brings in the digital CATV signal provides a channel for upstream and downstream Internet service. This does not interfere with the television, as there is plenty of “real estate” or bandwidth space on the coaxial cable to handle both TV and Internet signals. Why Linksys Cable Modem; The Linksys Cable Modem does not require you to pay any additional separate monthly subscription to the cable company, you only need to connect it with your current subscription with your satellite cable TV provider which will only work with a Coaxial Cable.
  •  RJ – 45 NIC Cable: This is a typical networking cable which we will use to network all the network devices that we have listed above such as the Router (Cable Modem), we will use it to make a connection from the Router to the computer to transmit internet.
  • Ethernet Cable: Ethernet cables connect network devices such as modems, routers, and adapters. They transmit data using the Ethernet protocol. Most Ethernet cables have RJ-45 jacks on both ends, each with 8 pins. (They look similar to telephone jacks, which use 4 pins or 6 pins.). Note the following points: Use Cat 5 cables. (Cat 5 is a measure of quality, meaning that it supports traffic up to 100 MB / sec.) These are also called 10/100 Base-T Cat 5 cables. Some Ethernet cable wires crises-cross internally, others are straight through, meaning that pin 1 is wired to pin 1 on the other end, etc. A port (socket) for a straight through Ethernet cable is sometimes called an uplink port. If you aren’t sure about a cable, and you can see the inside wires’ colors, hold the two ends of the plugs up, so the same side of the plug is facing you.
  • Router: A router is used to transmit internet to more than 1 computer system on a network setup, this enables you to network your connection to other system (PCs). This is also known as cable modem. The connection runs the incoming cable connection to an external cable modem, which has an Ethernet connection to a router, which then connects
  •  DECODER: A decoder is a device which is used to decode the satellite signal received from the satellite dish into a video. The decoded signal converted into video is what we receive on our TV. The purpose of connecting to the internet with a decoder is to convert your decoder to a Modem. A cable decoder is a modem because it modulates and demodulates, but it also functions as a tuner, a network bridge, an encryptor etc. To connect your PC or laptop to a decoder to access the net, you do not use a serial port as with dialup modem
  • COAXIAL CABLES: This connect the decoder to the splitter and one end of the cable goes into the TV while the other end goes to the WAN port of the router (Linksys Router)
Things to Note before buying all the equipments required for setup:
I always recommend running a router between a cable modem and a PC because a router not only allows more than one PC to be connected, but also provides a robust hardware firewall that helps shield your PC(s) connected to it from internet – based attacks.
You can directly connect PCs to a cable decoder using USB; I do not recommend that option because it precludes using a router (cable modem)
Some cable modems have a built – in router, in which case you don’t need to purchase a separate one. If your computer doesn’t include an Ethernet adapter built into the motherboard or a separate Ethernet card, you can install an Ethernet card into an available internal expansion slot or use a USB – based Ethernet adapter instead. I use a USB – based Ethernet adapter on my HITV decoder.
The cable modem connects to the CATV network using the same coaxial cable connection as your cable TV.
BEGIN THE CONNECTION
Step 1
Coaxial Cable cord, Splitter Port
Connect the coaxial cable from your dish to your satellite decoder splitter( i.e the “in” part) and then connect one cable from the first “out” port to your decoder and the one from the second port to your Linksys modem; the cable can be purchased from any shop where they sell cable decoder while one of the other coaxial cable cords is connected to your television to watch satellite stations.
Step 2
Coaxial Cable cord, LINKSYS ROUTER
Connect the second Coaxial cable cord from the splitter to WAN port of your router (Linksys Router)

Step 3
Coaxial Cable cord
If your cable modem does not have an inbuilt router facility, you will need to connect your cable Modem to the CATV network of your router using the same coaxial cable connection as your TV, but might need to convert it

Step 4
Ethernet CableLINKSYS ROUTER
Connect the Ethernet Cable from the router to your computer system, which can stand as a client if you are using only one computer or server if you are networking more than one system, make sure that your computer has an inbuilt Ethernet adapter on the Motherboard or a separate Ethernet card, you can also install an Ethernet Card into an available internal expansion slot or you can alternatively use a USB – Based Ethernet Adapter instead. In our connection we use a USB –based Ethernet adapter on HITV Decoder

Step 5
LINKSYS ROUTER, RJ -45 Cable
At the back of the Linksys Router there are several ports, port 1 – 4 Stand as the LAN (Local Area Network) Port which can be used to connect 1 -4 CPU to the router with an RJ -45NIC Cable, in most cases the cables comes with the router when you purchase it. Connect 1 -4 CPU to the LAN Port of the router with your RJ -45 Cables, please don’t mistake it with the Ethernet cable, as is only to be used to connect the computer which is the server to the Router for network routing and also note that each of the CPU that connect to the Router LAN Port with the help of RJ-45 must have an inbuilt Network card install in them, while the server should have an Ethernet card adapter install on the board as mentioned earlier.

Step 6
The fifth port of the Linksys Router which stand as the WAN Port (Wireless Access Network). Connect the second coaxial cable that comes from the splitter to the WAN Port of the Router, but note that you need a converter which is an adapter that convert the coaxial cable to RJ -45 cable since the Router WAN port does not have a direct port for a coaxial cable.

Step 7
The sixth port of the Linksys Router which is called the UplinkPort, the port can be connected to a Hub or a Switch to enable additional users or computers within the network range to share with the internet of your decoder via wireless access.

HOW TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS RECOVERY ON MKT PHONES

how to flash custom roms on mtk devices without pc

Flashing custom recovery on android devices could help prevent so many disasters especially; on MTK android devices like Tecno, iTel, Infinix and other MTK android devices generally referred to as China androids (at least, by Nigerians). No offence!

Here, I would discuss how to flash a custom recovery on most MTK android devices like Tecno, Infinix, iTel and others using Mobile Uncle application.

Mobile Uncle is a very useful diagnonistic application for most android devices, especially; most MTK android devices. It has a lot of features and can be used to modify MTK android systems, however; most of its functions requires root previlege.

Flashing Custom Recovery On MTK Androids Using Mobile Uncle

1- Download MobileUncle application from GooglePlay store or from anywhere else if you do not already have it installed on your phone.
2- Root your phone if it is not rooted yet. Follow the

3- Download the recovery image for your android device.
Please note that the recovery.img has to be for the specific phone.
4- Put the recovery.img you downloaded in the root of the SD Card.
5- Open Mobile Uncle application, scroll to therecovery tab of the application and click it.
6- Wait few seconds for the application to load the recovery.img files on the phone then; select the specific one you downloaded for the phone. A WARNING will pop up, simply click to proceed and wait for the process to complete.
7- Now, reboot the phone to recovery to confirm the process.

Recovery Flashing SAFETY TIPS

It is a good practise to backup your MTK Android stock RECOVERY before you flash any custom recovery on it. You can backup your stock recovery following these guides.
